A Note from Administration
NJES Families,
Let’s tackle literacy like champions!  Our students are diving into books and showing their competitive spirit as we kick off the 3rd Quarter of Read Bowl this week! We’re excited to see who our weekly winners will be for each grade level and our school as we compete with other elementary schools in the district.
Here’s how you can help make Read Bowl a success:
  • Encourage Daily Reading: Help your child set aside time to read at home each day.
  • Log Those Minutes: Ensure your child records their reading minutes on their weekly Read Bowl log.
  • Sign Off: Don’t forget to sign the log before your child turns it in.
Did you know that reading on grade level is one of the most important skills for student success, and there are many ways you can support your child’s literacy journey at home:
  • Read Together: Spend 10–15 minutes reading aloud or listening to your child read.
  • Discuss Books: Ask questions about the stories your child is reading, like their favorite part or something they learned.
  • Set a Routine: Choose a regular time for reading, such as before bedtime or after dinner.
  • Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge your child’s efforts and achievements, no matter how small.
At NJES, we’re committed to helping every child succeed, and we value the partnership we have with our families. Together, we can build a strong foundation for lifelong learning through literacy.  If you need additional information and/or support with supporting your child’s reading at home, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Let’s huddle up and keep driving toward success—every reading minute counts! With your support, we can score big for literacy and help every student become a champion reader. 🏈
Thank you for your support, and let’s keep reading!
