Dear NJES Parents and Families,
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Today, we celebrate the legacy of Dr. King, a leader who inspired America to dream big, work hard, and never give up, no matter the challenges. His words remind us:
"If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving."
At NJES, we are channeling that same spirit of persistence and determination into our efforts to grow as readers and leaders in our school and community. We are excited about the momentum of our NJES Read Bowl School Challenge! The first quarter has come to an end, and it’s time to review, sign, and turn in your child's reading logs. Quarter 2 begins today, so grab a book, log your minutes, and keep pushing forward toward our reading goals.
In the coming weeks, our teachers will be reaching out to provide updates on your child’s progress as a reader and how they are working toward meeting or exceeding grade-level standards. Our shared goal is for every student to be reading on or above grade level by the end of the school year—and with your support, we know we can achieve it.
Dr. King’s legacy teaches us that persistence and a commitment to growth can bring about remarkable change. By fostering a love of reading, we are not only helping our students grow academically but also building the leaders of tomorrow—students who will shape their futures and our communities with confidence and determination.
Thank you for partnering with us on this journey. Let’s continue to inspire our students to dream big, work hard, and keep moving forward as readers and leaders!
With gratitude,
Troy Johnson
