Dear NJES Families,
We hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy the winter weather and the rare sight of snow here in Georgia this week! It’s always such a joy to see our students’ excitement during these special moments.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. This past week, we were thrilled to kick off our first round of the NJES Read Bowl! This exciting initiative encourages students to read at home, with classrooms competing within their grade levels to log the most minutes read each week.
This year, the excitement is even bigger as NJES joins a district-wide reading challenge with our fellow elementary schools. Not only will our students compete within their classrooms and grade levels, but they’ll also represent NJES as we come together to support a love of reading across our entire district.
To help your student succeed in this fun and rewarding challenge, here are a few ways you can support them at home:
-
Set aside dedicated time for reading each day. A quiet, distraction-free environment makes all the difference.
-
Review and sign off on your child’s reading log to ensure their minutes are counted.
-
Make reading a shared activity. Take a few moments to read with your student or have them read to you. It’s a great way to bond while building literacy skills.
We’re excited to see how much our students can achieve through this friendly competition. Let’s work together to foster a love of reading and celebrate their growth!
Thank you for being an integral part of our NJES community.
Warmest regards,
Troy Johnson
