Why is student attendance important? Did you know that your student’s attendance can positively impact his or her academic performance, social skills and sense of belonging at school. Research shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to learn more, develop better study habits, and achieve at higher levels than students who miss school. For example, several studies have shown that students who miss more than 18 days of school have lower performance in reading, writing, and math than their peers.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
We are looking forward to our first Quarterly Reward PBIS party happening on October 9th! Students have the opportunity to spend the dojo points they earn for showing our P.A.W.S. (Pride, Attitude, Work, and Safety) to “purchase” a ticket for this party. Students will be given glow in the dark stickers and glow sticks as they enter the event. We will have blacklights, balloons, music, and games for students. We had so much fun at this party last year and are looking forward to celebrating all of our students' hard work.
We are also excited to announce that NJES will be recruiting 4th and 5th grade students for a Kindness Crew. This Kindness Crew will consist of 10 students who will work on monthly kindness projects with our school counselor, Ms. Neese. Students interested in applying for this crew should submit an essay with the following information to their teachers by Friday, October 4th.
