A Note from Administration
What a great start to the school year! We've been working hard on establishing routines and expectations, and we're thrilled to have your support. Thank you for joining us for Parent University night. We had meaningful discussions about what your students will be learning this year and our school-wide focus on P.A.W.S. expectations. At NJES, we take pride in being panthers who show a positive attitude, work hard, and stay safe! Be sure to ask your child about our new P.A.W.S. song, which helps us remember these important expectations. Here's to a fantastic year ahead!

Helpful Tech Tips
Parent Square
Now that you have ParentSquare, what can you see and do with the web or mobile version? In the ParentSquare app or web version, parents are able to directly message their child’s teacher or comment on posts made by the teacher. When a comment is made on a post from the teacher, only the teacher is able to view and reply to the comment. The articles below will show you what you are able to view and how to navigate using the ParentSquare app or web version.

Children at Multiple Schools
“What if I have students at different schools?” Families with children at multiple schools can change which school they view in the app or web browser. Review the link below to learn how!

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Our students have been doing an excellent job showing their P.A.W.S. expectations around the school! Remember, this P.A.W.S. acronym serves as our school-wide behavioral expectations and stands for Pride, Attitude, Work, and Safety. Students have even learned a song to help them remember those expectations. This song is played on our morning news show each day. We have implemented several school-wide challenges to encourage students to continue showing P.A.W.S. behaviors. Please see below for more details.

  • Bus Challenge: Each week, buses who report ZERO behavior incidents earn lollipops on Friday afternoon.
  • Car-riders: Tickets are given to students showing PAWSitive behavior. Students drop tickets in a bucket on their way out. At the end of each week, tickets are drawn and winners are announced.
  • Cafeteria: We award our Golden Fork award to classes who have shown the most PAWSitive behavior each Friday, and announce winners over the intercom.
  • Panther of the Month: Each month, students are nominated to be Panther of the Month. Nominees have their picture posted on a bulletin board and paste their handprint on our “Put the I in Kind” poster.

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a career day on Friday, November 15th! More details will come soon, but if you are interested in participating please complete the link below. Once complete, our school counselor, Ms. Neese, will reach out to you. We would love to see a wide variety of careers represented.

Family Engagement
A HUGE ‘Thank You’ to those families who attended our first Parent University Curriculum Night. It was so good to see you, and we hope you enjoyed learning more about what your child will be learning this year.
As a reminder, we will be finalizing our Title I Family Engagement Plan and our Family-School Compact and will present our final documents at our annual Title I meeting on Friday, November 8th, at 5:30 pm, right before our Fall Festival. We would still love your input on these documents though! Please feel free to fill out this survey to share your thoughts!

PTO
We are looking forward to meeting our parent volunteers in the library on Tuesday September, 10th at 3:15pm.  This is the first meeting to start planning for our upcoming Fall Festival.  We encourage all parents who are looking to get involved to show up.  You can volunteer as much or as little as you want.  Helping with these events helps parents and teachers be able to spend time with their children and students so everyone can enjoy.  So please make a reminder and come to the meeting.
Our Fall Festival will be Friday November 8th from 6-8pm.
We all look forward to this school year with you on board.
We are also looking for donations for the following:
popcorn machine & fall decorations.
