  • Welcome to the Pre-K program at North Jackson Elementary School! Our goal is to provide our Pre-K students with a clean, safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment where they are encouraged to develop a lifelong love for learning.

Our classroom focuses on encouraging children's cognitive, social, emotional, critical thinking, and physical skills. Children are active learners and we focus on purposeful play activities reinforcing reading, math, art, dramatic play, and much much more. The Pre-K programs allows your child an extra year to grow and learn focusing on the child's interest. We look forward to a great year in Pre-K.

  • Kindergarten provides students with the first learning experiences in language development, number concepts, creative skills, and social and physical growth. Our kindergarten students are introduced to basic reading skills through guided reading, literacy centers, and read alouds. In math, students work in small groups learning concepts such as counting, shapes, and problem solving skills.  We work hard to provide our students with an engaging, enriching, and positive learning environment.

  • Welcome! As 4th-grade educators, our goal is to provide students with a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment where students will continue their love for learning in the “upper grades” of elementary school.

In our classrooms, we will deepen students thinking and skills to prepare for the future and middle school. The 4th-grade curriculum pushes students to think, analyze, and learn in a more structured way. Students will learn to deeply think about and make connections in new material and grasp more complex concepts across reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.    We look forward to a great year and growing as learners together.

  • Welcome to 5th grade at North Jackson Elementary School! We strive every day to provide an academically challenging environment and classrooms that provide a safe and accepting space for students to learn and grow.

Our classrooms are designed to provide engaging and rigorous lessons to challenge students to use their problem-solving skills and creativity across all academic subjects. In math this year, our students will learn about various topics ranging from operations using whole numbers, decimals, and fractions to geometry skills about shapes, measurements, and coordinate grids. In reading, we will discuss aspects of both nonfiction and fiction passages. In writing, we will focus on narrative, informational, and opinionated writings along with a word study to enhance vocabulary and understanding. In social studies, we will learn about history from 1900 to the present day. In science, we will discuss the classification of animals and plants, cells, inherited traits, electricity, magnetism, Earth science, and physical and chemical changes. We look forward to a great year in 5th grade!

  • What is Language Support?

Language Support Services (also known as ESOL or EL) is a specialized WIDA language support program for Multilingual learners (MLL also known as ELL or EL). Multilingual learners are children and youth who are, or have been, consistently exposed to multiple languages.  Services are provided over time to expand what students can do with English language as they share ideas,  learn about the world around them, and form social and academic relationships.

How do students qualify for Language Support?

Our school registration process includes the Home Language Survey form,  identifying students that may be Multilingual. Please talk with one of our language teachers or the school office if a language other than English was not written during registration on the Home Language Survey form.

Testing and Participation in Language Support

Eligible Multilingual (MLL) students take a short WIDA English proficiency screening test one time then if eligible, continue to take WIDA ACCESS each year to monitor English language proficiency growth in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Student progress is shared with parents at the start of each school year  along with student continued eligibility until reaching a 5.0 score and exiting the support program.
