About the Principal

Troy Johnson

Johnson

Hello and welcome to North Jackson Elementary School!

My name is Troy Johnson, and I am extremely excited and honored to serve as the principal of North Jackson Elementary School since 2021.

With twenty-seven years of experience in education, I am proud to have dedicated my entire career to the Jackson County School System. I began my journey in 1995, teaching science and coaching athletics at Jackson County High School. Over the years, I have taught science and served as the secondary science learning facilitator at both high schools in our district. I have also been an instructional coach and assistant principal at East Jackson High School. Subsequently, I served as the principal of West Jackson Intermediate/Elementary School for four years before taking on the role of Director of School Improvement and Accountability, where I collaborated with all of our district's schools to support their improvement initiatives.

My family and I have called Jackson County home for the past 28 years. My wife, Kim Johnson, is a retired Jackson County educator, and our two daughters are both graduates of Jackson County Schools. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, cooking, reading, escaping to the beach, and watching UGA football. Go DAWGS!

As a parent, teacher, and lifelong learner, I believe that education is fundamentally about HEART work. For meaningful learning to occur, relationships must come before rigor. At North Jackson, we equally value the social, emotional, and academic needs of each and every student we are privileged to serve.

North Jackson Elementary School is a special place with a history of excellence, serving a growing and caring community committed to continued academic success. Where some see challenges and obstacles, we see opportunities for growth and improvement. Together, we will make a difference in the lives of our students.

I am proud to call NJES my home and look forward to getting to know you and your family. If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, or concerns. You can reach me by phone at 706-693-2246 or by email at tjohnson@jcss.us.

Growing Together,
Troy Johnson
