About the Principal
Troy Johnson
Hello and welcome to North Jackson Elementary School! My name is Troy Johnson, and I am extremely excited and honored to serve our community as the principal of North Jackson Elementary School since 2021.
I have been in education for twenty-seven years and have been fortunate to spend all those years here in the Jackson County School System. My career as an educator began in 1995 teaching science and coaching athletics at Jackson County High School. Over the span of two and a half decades, I have taught science and served as the secondary science learning facilitator at both our high schools; I served as the instructional coach and assistant principal at East Jackson High School; Then, I was named the principal of West Jackson Intermediate/Elementary School where I worked for the next four years; Next, I took the opportunity to support school improvement across our district where I worked closely with all of our schools as the Director of School Improvement and Accountability.
My family and I are proud to call Jackson County our home for these past 27 years. I am married to Kim Johnson, a retired Jackson County educator, and we have two daughters that are both graduates of Jackson County Schools. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, cooking, reading, getting away to the beach, and watching UGA football! Go DAWGS!!!
Being a parent, teacher, and lifelong learner, I know that education is first and foremost HEART work! For meaningful learning to take place, relationships must come before rigor; that is why at North Jackson we equally value the social, emotional and academic needs of each and every student we are blessed to serve.
North Jackson Elementary School is a very special school with a history of excellence that serves a growing and caring community committed to continued academic success! Where some will see challenges and obstacles we see opportunities to grow and improve. Working together we will make a difference in the lives of our students!
I am proud to call NJES my home and look forward to getting to know you and your family. If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, comments and concerns. You may reach me by phone at 706-693-2246 or by e-mail at tjohnson@jcss.us
