About the Instructional Coach
Aja Ledford
I am so excited to be joining North Jackson Elementary School as the instructional coach. I look forward to building relationships with the students, staff, and families.
My teaching career started in Jackson County, and this year will be my twelfth year in education. My background includes teaching culturally diverse students and students with disabilities. I have experience working with multiple teachers to collaborate and meet the needs of all students. I began my career as a first-grade teacher at West Jackson Primary School, where I taught for four years. I was also honored to be named West Jackson Primary School Teacher of the Year in 2015. For the last seven years, I have served at Maysville Elementary School, where I taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grade. I spent the last two years as the 3-5 grade EIP/MTSS Specialist. I also co-directed Maysville Elementary School’s 1-5 grade after-school and summer tutoring programs for the last four years. In 2021 while serving at Maysville, I was named the Jackson County System Teacher of the Year.
My educational experience includes a Bachelor of Art in Early Childhood from Gainesville State College, a Masters of Art in Early Childhood Education, and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College. I have an ESOL endorsement and a reading endorsement. I recently completed my Tier 1 Leadership certificate program at Piedmont College.
Outside school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three adult children. We are avid campers and enjoy exploring new places. My other hobbies include reading, exercising, and playing with my dog.
I feel honored to be part of the North Jackson family, and I know this year will be amazing.
Go Panthers!!
