Our Principal

Hello!  My name is Troy Johnson, and I am extremely excited and honored to join the North Jackson Elementary family as the interim principal for the 2021-2022 school year.

I have been in education for twenty-six years and have been fortunate to spend all those years here in the Jackson County School System.  My career as an educator began in 1995 teaching science and coaching athletics at Jackson County High School.  Over the span of two and a half decades, I have taught science and served as the secondary science learning facilitator at both our high schools; I served as the instructional coach and assistant principal at East Jackson High School; Then, I was named the principal of West Jackson Intermediate/Elementary School where I worked for the next four years; Next, I took the opportunity to support school improvement across our district where I worked closely with all of our schools as the Director of School Improvement and Accountability.

My family and I are proud to call Jackson County our home for these past 25 years.  I am married to Kim Johnson, the principal of East Jackson Middle School, and we have two daughters that are both graduates of Jackson County Schools.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, cooking, reading, getting away to the beach, and watching UGA football!  Go DAWGS!!!

Being a parent, teacher, and lifelong learner, I know that education is first and foremost HEART work! For meaningful learning to take place, relationships must come before rigor; that is why at North Jackson we equally value the social, emotional and academic needs of each and every student we are blessed to serve.

North Jackson Elementary School is a very special school with a history of excellence that serves a growing and caring community committed to continued success!  Challenges and obstacles are seen as opportunities to grow and improve.  Together we will make a difference in the lives of our students!

We recognize that the last year and a half of unprecedented events resulting from the pandemic have impacted all of us, some more significantly than others.  We greatly appreciate all you have done to continue to partner with us to support your children.  As we move forward, we look forward to opening our doors to our families and community, to engage in person and to celebrate the successes to come.

I am proud to call NJES my home and look forward to getting to know you and your family.  If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, comments and concerns.  You may reach me by phone at 706-693-2246 or by e-mail at tjohnson@jcss.us

Growing Together,
Troy Johnson

Our Assistant Principal

I am very excited to be starting my third year at North Jackson Elementary school. This year will be a new challenge for me because I will be serving as your Assistant Principal of Instruction. I served as a 5th grade teacher last year and a 4th grade teacher the previous year. I have fallen in love with North Jackson and the families we serve. I look forward to continuing to build on the relationships with students and families that I have been able to establish over the past couple of years.

Prior to coming to North Jackson, I taught 17 years in the Gainesville City School System. My teaching experience includes kindergarten, first grade, third grade, fourth grade and fifth grade. I was honored as being named The Teacher of the Year for Gainesville Exploration Academy for the  2016-2017 school year. Quality instruction and building relationships with students and families is at the core of everything that I believe about education. I look forward to working with the school community to ensure that the needs of every student at North Jackson are met this school year.

My educational experience includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, an Master’s Degree and an Educational Specialist Degree all from Brenau University in Gainesville Georgia. I also hold a Math, Science, and ESOL endorsement for the state of Georgia.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Ivan and our five children. Raegan, Gabe, Riley, Logan and Ana-Sophia. I cannot leave out our precious little dog Cosmo. We all enjoy traveling and relaxing in the backyard.

I know that this is going to be a great year at North Jackson!  If you need anything, I am always available. Please feel free to contact me by calling the school or emailing me at lspindola@jcss.us if you have any questions or concerns. Go Panthers!
