Our Principal

Hello! My name is Jenica Johnson and I am so proud to be the new principal at North Jackson Elementary School. It is truly an honor to serve in such a wonderful community and I look forward to many years together. I began my career

in education 18 years ago teaching second grade at Meadowcreek Elementary in Gwinnett County. I taught second grade for 4 years and 3rd grade for three years before moving into school administration. I served as an assistant principal for 8 years in three schools within Gwinnett, most recently at McKendree Elementary in Lawrenceville. My family moved to Jackson County in 2014 which led me to seek employment there. I spent one year teaching at East Jackson Elementary before moving back into school administration as the principal at Lavonia Elementary in Franklin County. I intended to continue serving as the principal there, but the amazing opportunity to return to Jackson County presented itself and I seized the moment and was blessed to join the North Jackson family!

When I am not at school, you will most likely find me on the volleyball court cheering on one of my daughters as they play. I love volleyball and really enjoying watching my girls play. Beyond that, I enjoy reading, shopping and napping, not necessarily in that order!

Relationships and connectivity are very important to me, so please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to help you or your child. The best way to reach me is either by email at jljohnson@jcss.us or by phone at 706-693-2246. Please feel free to contact me to set up a meeting as needed. That allows me to designate time for us to chat and t

o avoid excessive interruptions. During the school day, I try to be out and about interacting with students and supporting teachers so it can be difficult to meet on the spot so an appointment time is preferred.

I hope that your child has an exceptional experience here at North Jackson and you feel their needs are met everyday to the best of our ability. I am sure we will make mistakes, but our intentions and hearts are all in for these kids and we strive to make sure they are loved and valued! I am so excited about this school year and I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your child. Here’s to an exciting and successful year!

Our Assistant Principal

As assistant principal of North Jackson, I am thrilled to welcome you to the North Jackson Family and to the new school year!  I am so blessed, humbled, and honored to be a part of the North Jackson Family. North Jackson is a very special place with highly qualified and caring teachers and staff who go the extra mile to meet students’ needs and provide high quality learning experiences.  I am excited about working together to continue to make children our first priority and see children learn and be successful.

I started my career in 2001 in the Habersham County School System while I was still in college.  I joined the Jackson County School System in 2003 after graduating with a degree in early childhood education from North Georgia College and State University.  I earned a master’s degree in early childhood education from Piedmont College. I earned my educational specialist degree in leadership and administration from Lincoln Memorial University.  I have also earned my doctorate in teaching and learning from Liberty University. I have been part of the North Jackson Family since 2003. During this time I have taught 2nd, 4th, MTSS Coordinator (one year half time at North Jackson and half time as Maysville Elementary), advanced content math for 3rd-5th grades and assistant principal for the past 4 years.

I have two sons: Hart (age 4) and Hudson (age 3) that keep me very busy.  In my spare time (if there is such ) I love to travel and go shopping (especially for antiques).

I look forward to working with each and every one of you to help your child reach their maximum learning potential.  North Jackson is very near and dear to me and I hope that you will get the same special feeling by being a part of this family.  Please do not hesitate to call me or reach out to me at any time.

Sincerely,

Mishea Dean
